After being a partner in a well regarded local firm, in 2008 I set up my own firm in Braintree, specialising in children and family law cases as well as in civil and commercial mediation.

In May 2013, my sole practice was acquired by Albin & Co Ltd, with the Braintree office thereafter trading as ‘Boyd Carter Solicitors & Mediators’. I am based mainly at the Braintree office but travel frequently to courts all over London and the South East and to the firm’s offices in Reading and Swindon to see clients where that is more convenient for them.

Over the last 24 years, I have practiced criminal law, family law and civil & commercial dispute resolution, including personal injury, employment, business, probate and land disputes, appearing as an advocate for clients in the Magistrates’ Courts, the County Courts, the Family Court and the High Court.

I am a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil), an accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator, a Children Scheme Arbitrator and a member of: the Law Society’s Children Panel (Children Representative), the Association of Lawyers for Children, the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates, Resolution ( formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), the British Association of Adoption and Fostering. I am also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
My interests and hobbies outside of the office include cars, food, films, books and music…including trying to play guitar.
