Fiona Hay

Fiona has been a barrister since 1989. She is an experienced family law specialist and has a practice at the bar and as an arbitrator since 2017 dedicated to financial remedy work. She also sits as a private FDR judge.

Fiona has particular expertise in cases involving complex assets including trusts, family businesses and companies. Her depth of experience enables her strongly to recommend ADR for its effectiveness in delivering workable resolutions with less distress, delay and expense to the parties. She has flexible arbitration practice offering paper-based awards as well as awards following hearings, together with directions hearings in any format that may be convenient to the parties.   Fiona is a member of Harcourt Chambers’ team of specialist arbitrators.

Fiona has been a Recorder on the Midland Circuit since 2008 and since 2013 has been authorised to sit in the High Court. She is an authority on pensions in divorce and is joint author of the leading textbook on that subject. Fiona sits on the Pensions Advisory Group and is a reviewer for Advocate, the Bar Pro Bono Unit.  She is recognised for her excellence in Legal 500 and Chambers UK Bar directories annually.

Based in Oxfordshire, Fiona will undertake arbitrations throughout the South East and Midlands, and on remote platforms.
