Julien has practised in the field of children law (public and private law) since 1996. He is frequently instructed by parents in children cases. He also regularly acts for children when a children’s guardian is appointed to represent their interests. Most often, the private law disputes in which he is involved relate to the arrangements for where a child should live, and time to be spent between separated parents. Julien also deals regularly with disputes in relation to schooling, medical treatment, religious differences, and whether a child should leave the country, temporarily or permanently. Julien also practises in cases of international child abduction and where children are made wards of court. Julien is often asked to act in cases when serious allegations of physical or emotional abuse are in issue.

Julien sits as a Recorder (part-time Judge) in the Family Court and deals with private law matters (mainly disputes between separated parents) and public law matters (disputes in relation to a child in which the local authority is a party).

Julien deals daily with a diverse range of people and adapts his style in order to be most effective.
