I qualified as FCIArb in 1990 and as a member of the IFLA panel in.
Following call to the bar, my pupillage was in a well-known ancillary relief set in London. I have maintained a family law practice ever since, although I have also experienced other areas, (notably construction which is what led to my early interest in arbitration). I enjoy meeting people face-to-face and I hope that a generally relaxed and informal approach will lead to an atmosphere where early compromise can be achieved.

I am a firm believer in this scheme. Given the procedural difficulties in the courts (delay seems endemic), a failure to encourage the use of arbitration is tantamount to bad practice. The ability to adjust procedure to suit particular circumstances is valuable. The possibility of a “documents only arbitration” can lead to a swift outcome and a considerable saving in costs.
