Sir Philip practised as a financial remedy specialist at 1 Hare Court (previously 1 Mitre Court Buildings) for twenty eight years, of which he was a QC for ten years. In 2011, he was appointed a Judge of the High Court, Family Division. As a judge, he heard many of the most high profile financial remedy disputes, such as Young v Young; Standish v Standish; and HRH Princess Haya of Jordan v HH Sheikh Mohammed of Dubai. He retired in October 2024 and has since returned to 1 Hare Court to undertake private Financial Dispute Resolution Hearings and financial Arbitrations.
