I have been a barrister since 1992 and took silk in 2016. I practice exclusively in children cases. I sit as a Recorder in the Family Court and also sit as a Deputy High Court Judge. I am therefore regularly resolving all manner of children and family disputes. I am committed to alternative dispute resolution. I am a trained mediator and convene the Dispute Resolution group in chambers, seeking to provide as many options as possible for those who need some help to resolve their family disputes.

Harry is ranked as one of only three “star juniors” in matrimonial finance by Chambers & Partners. He is also one of only three family finance practitioners ranked in the “Chambers 100” list of the top 100 junior barristers in any area of law in England & Wales.

Harry is vastly experienced in middle, big and very big money cases including those with corporate, trust, tax and valuation issues.

He has won (and been a finalist twice) “Family Law Junior of the Year”. Harry has also advised in Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman, Gibraltar, Hong Kong and Isle of Man, and provided expert evidence for Gibraltar, British Virgin Islands, Scotland and Venezuela.

After being a partner in a well regarded local firm, in 2008 I set up my own firm in Braintree, specialising in children and family law cases as well as in civil and commercial mediation.

In May 2013, my sole practice was acquired by Albin & Co Ltd, with the Braintree office thereafter trading as ‘Boyd Carter Solicitors & Mediators’. I am based mainly at the Braintree office but travel frequently to courts all over London and the South East and to the firm’s offices in Reading and Swindon to see clients where that is more convenient for them.

Over the last 24 years, I have practiced criminal law, family law and civil & commercial dispute resolution, including personal injury, employment, business, probate and land disputes, appearing as an advocate for clients in the Magistrates’ Courts, the County Courts, the Family Court and the High Court.

I am a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil), an accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator, a Children Scheme Arbitrator and a member of: the Law Society’s Children Panel (Children Representative), the Association of Lawyers for Children, the Solicitors Association of Higher Court Advocates, Resolution ( formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), the British Association of Adoption and Fostering.
