I qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and since that date have practised in the area of Family Law. I am a member of the Law Society  Family Accreditation Scheme and I hold Advanced Accreditation also. I am a member of the Law Society Family Law Committee, Vice Chair of the Forum of Family Arbitrators and the Chair of Trust Board for a Multi Academy School Trust.

I have a special focus on divorce and relationship breakdown and the financial consequences flowing from that. I have dealt with high value cases with large property portfolios down to modest value asset cases. I am proactive, practical and forward thinking. I enjoy using technology to the fullest for the benefit of my clients.

I have one (long suffering) husband, two teenage units and a bossy Parsons Terrier with selective hearing and an unnatural affinity for cheese.

I am a specialist Family Law Silk and Joint Head of Chambers at 1 Garden Court, a leading Family Law set in the Temple, London. I practice across a broad spectrum of Family Law work, including most aspects of family finance. I have undertaken many cases with a international aspect, have been called to the Bar in Bermuda for the purposes of a Supreme Court hearing there and have conducted private FDR hearings in Jersey and elsewhere. My practice at the Bar also encompasses many aspects of private and public law children work. I am often instructed in leave to remove applications and other children issues with an international dimension. I also undertake other private law cases involving welfare decisions about children. With the increase in alternative families, I also have acquired expertise in issues relating to modern families. As a part-time judge (Recorder since 2000) I have gained significant experience as a judge and have received regula r judicial training in both finance and children work. I am a committee member of the Family Law Bar Association and a member of the Bar Council’s Law Reform Committee. I have a reasonable working knowledge of French, German, Italian and Modern Greek.

I have practised as a family law barrister for over 40 years. I am experienced in every type of case, including: international and domestic jurisdictional disputes; financial disputes with assets ranging from multi-millions to zero (or below); prenuptial and postnuptial agreements; civil partnerships; termination-of-life cases; gender reassignment; child sexual abuse and non-accidental injury; child abduction; child relocation; and Court of Protection issues.

My concerns about the increasing length and cost of litigation and the effective abolition of legal aid led me to train as a mediator and then as an arbitrator. I am also a reviewer for the Bar Pro Bono Unit, in which capacity I consider the legal and financial merits of applications to that charity for free legal representation.

I am a lecturer and writer, and am a contributor to the current (19th) edition of the leading textbook, Rayden & Jackson on Divorce and Family Matters.
